Contrast Shower
The Contrast, or alternate hot and cold shower, is a vigorous tonic that brings tone to the body and greatly stimulates metabolism. This treatment also greatly enhances immune system activity.

Items Needed
- Shower
- Towel
Treatment Procedure
- Pray and ask God to bless the treatment.
- Turn on shower and adjust to proper temperature (approx. 101 F).
- Make sure person’s feet are warm before entering the shower.
- Have a stool on hand in case person becomes faint.
- Have person get into the shower.
- Increase temperature to tolerated heat.
- Hold at this point for one minute.
- Quickly lower temperature by turning of the hot water and leave the cold running for approximately 30 seconds.
- Reverse again to tolerance for about 1 minute.
- Turn to cold again for another 30 seconds.
- Again turn to hot for 1 minute.
- Make three complete cycles.
- Following this, gradually lower the temperature to cold being careful not to cause chilling.
- Turn shower off and dry with friction.
- Have person rest.
Cautions
- When an acute condition exists, such as appendicitis, where a reaction would not be desirable.
- When acute nervous irritability or excitability exists.
- If the person you are working on has poor circulation. Fainting may result from the sudden changes in water temperature.
- If the person has severe cardiovascular disease.
